Today in Jewish History - February 22 / Adar II 10 1890 February 22, MENAHEM USSISHKIN (Russia-Eretz Israel) Menachem Mendel Ussishkin One of the founders of the Odessa Committee. The Committee was dedicated to the practical exponent of the Hovevei Zion in establishing agricultural settlements in Eretz Israel. Ussishkin later served as president of the Jewish National Fund.
