His talmudic commentaries are still widely used today. He also replied to questions (mostly of a practical nature) put to him by communities in Germany, Eretz Israel, Sicily, Morocco, Portugal, and Spain itself. His students included Yomtov ben Abraham (author of the Ritvah, a talmudic commentary), Rav Behai (famous for his biblical commentary) and Rabbi Shem Tov Gaon (author of Migdal Oz).
